Introduction:

Shruti’s Meal Box & Tea Corner is one of the most popular food corners located in Akandakeshari, Newtown, Kolkata. It mainly serves Indian, Chinese, Tandoor, Thal, tea, and coffee beverages. Locally famous, this eatery needed a bold and eye-catching storefront to stand out and attract attention from local customers and passersby.

Riot Color India designed, fabricated, and installed a large Glow Sign Board (GSB) to bring this vision to life. It’s now the anchor of the storefront. This signage helps to showcase the business and gives it a strong, professional visual identity.

Restaurant Signage Branding

Project Objectives:

The main goal of this project was simple: designing the artwork and installing a large-format illuminated signboard that clearly communicates the brand name, cuisine offerings, and key service highlights. It must be visible during the day as well as at night.

The main objectives of this project:

  • Design an attractive, easily readable signboard for the food corner.
  • Make sure it is just as visible at night as it is in daylight.
  • Highlight key service information including cuisine type, home delivery, party orders, hygiene, and contact details.
  • Consistency in design with the brand’s colours and tagline.
  • Delivering a durable, weatherproof sign built to withstand outdoor exposure.

Detailed Scope of Work:

Riot Color India handled the complete signage project- from designing and fabrication to on-site installation.

  • Glow Sign Board (GSB)- 15ft x 3ft

A single glow sign board, 15 feet wide and 3 feet tall, was designed to run across both shutters of the shop. It uses a black and orange colour block, food photography, the ‘Shruti’s Meal Box & Tea Corner’ logo, and the tagline ‘Good food, Good Life.’

  • LED Module Fabrication

The lighting inside the GSB was custom-built- a dense grid of LED modules mounted on a metal frame, spaced to light the board evenly from end-to-end. Given the 15 ft span, this took careful planning.

  • Layout and Information

The board required more than just a brand name. Cuisine type, service highlights (home delivery, party orders, fresh ingredients, hygiene), address, phone number, and social handles all had to fit in. The information also needed to remain readable for passing drivers.

  • Installation

The finished GSB was mounted above the shop’s two shutters, aligned to the building front for a clean, professional look.

Project-related Challenges:

  • Even lighting across a long board

A glow sign of this size is prone to dark patches if the LEDs aren’t spaced right. We tested the module grid before final assembly to make sure the light was consistent across the whole length.

  • Fitting in Multiple Information

The client wanted the brand, tagline, food shots, cuisine list, services, address, and contact number all on one board. Balancing all of that without making it look busy took a few rounds of layout work.

  • Built for the Outdoors

The GSB sits on an open storefront with no cover, exposed to weather year-round. This required the use of weather-resistant materials capable of maintaining their appearance and performance over time.

  • Exact Fitting

Since the board spans two shutters, the measurements had to be precise- even a small error would throw off the alignment once mounted.

LED Module Fabrication

Solutions Implemented by Riot Color India:

The Riot Color India team fabricated and tested the LED module in-house before it went anywhere near the shop, so the illumination was confirmed even before installation day. The layout was created around a clear hierarchy- brand name largest, then tagline, then services and contact details- so the board reads well at a glance, not just up close.

The team planned the fabrication, testing, and installation stages in such a way that there were no idle gaps between them, and delays at one stage wouldn’t push out the next. That planning paid off- the board was completed before the deadline, giving the client a head start on opening with the signage already up.
